Navigating Social Justice for Behavioral Health

This webinar is part of the NYSPHA Mental Health Webinar Series sponsored by The JED Foundation, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Capital Region Chapter, and the University of Albany College of Integrated Health Sciences.

Presentation will introduce some key work on health disparity, equity, and social justice, and then apply it to behavioral health. Information and statistics (epi and svcs) will be presented on the current situation in behavioral health. Subsequently, an overview will be presented of a potential future for behavioral health.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Knowledge of how health disparities, equity, and social justice relate to behavioral health.
  2. Ability to understand the current status of behavioral health services.
  3. Apply a framework to help understand the future of behavioral health.
Speaker Bio: 
Ron Manderscheid is an Adjunct Professor at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, and at the Suzanne Dworak Peck School of Social Work, University of Southern California. Previously, he served in executive roles in the US Department of Health and Human Services, SRA International, and the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors.
