2017 Pre-Conference Workshop

Developing and Sharing Community Health Improvement Stories Using the CLEAR Framework

Thursday, April 27th

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

High Peaks Resort Resort

Join us for NYSPHA's interactive pre-conference session, an interactive workshop. You will learn how to apply the CLEAR Framework for developing and sharing community health improvement stories. CLEAR stands for Collaborative, Learning, Equity, Action and Replication.

Practitioners will share stories addressing New York State’s Prevention Agenda, the state health improvement plan. The Prevention Agenda has five statewide priorities: Prevent Chronic Diseases; Promote a Health and Safe Environment; Promote Healthy Women, Infants and Children; Promote Mental Health and Prevent Substance Abuse and Prevent HIV, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Healthcare-Associated Infections.

Participants will develop community health improvement stories with materials and guidance from facilitators.  Come with ideas, narrative or photographs about a story you are interested in working on.

After participating in this session, participants will be able to:

  • Apply components of the CLEAR framework to develop and analyze stories
  • Use tools to develop brief narratives and/or a photo story
  • Identify at least three resources that can sustain story development and sharing
